Valley Vision | towards a comprehensive vision for the future of the Bulkley Valley

Wetzin'kwa Grant

On September 23, 2009, Valley Vision received a generous $5000 grant from the Wetzin’kwa Community Forest Corporation.

Thank you Wetzin’kwa!

Wetzin’kwa is the licensee responsible for managing the community forest agreement that is jointly held by the Town of Smithers and the Village of Telkwa.

Information from Wetzin’ka Community Forest Corporation (WCFC):

In accordance with the WCFC business plan, the volunteer Board of Directors is tasked with distributing annual profits from the operations back into the Bulkley Valley to provide the greatest long term benefit to residents of the region. … The Board has confirmed that up to $90,000 profit from 2009 operations is available….

Valley Vision Website Support Project

The Bulkley Valley Research Centre , as the legal entity behind Valley Vision, submitted the grant application to Wetzin’kwa. The project will use $5,000 from Wetzin’kwa plus $7,000 from private and contract sources to complete the following objectives for 2009 – 2010:

  • sustain basic website operation
  • expand content with priority on any new planning proposals plus additional planner profiles
  • provide GIS and website support for BV Community Asset Mapping

With this funding, the Valley Vision project will be able to provide greater benefits to the community and will be in a better position to work with partners who have compatible objectives. Contact us if you would like to work with Valley Vision.
