Ski & Ride Smithers Proposes Changes to Visual Quality

Ski & Ride Smithers is advertising their intention to apply for a change to the Visual Quality Objectives established for the east slope of Hudson Bay Mountain.

The application will be submitted to the District Manager of the Skeena Stikine Forest District, Ministry of Forests and Range. The proposed changes will require an amendment to the Visual Quality Objectives established in the Bulkley Valley Sustainable Resource Management Plan.

The Bulkely Valley Sustainable Resource Management Plan is a landscape unit plan under the Bulkley Land and Resource Management Plan. Links to these plans are provided on Valley Vision’s page describing the planning responsibilities of the Integrated Land Management Bureau.

The March 12, 2008 advertisement states that the change is part of their proposed expansion plans for the resort. As part of the application process, Ski & Ride Smithers is seeking public comments on the proposal. A Visual Quality Analysis can be viewed:

  • at the downtown office of Ski & Ride Smithers between 8:30 am and 5:00 pm, seven days a week.

Comments will be accepted by Ski & Ride Smithers until Wednesday March 26, 2008. Send comments
