Proposed Rezoning of lot at 7th Ave & Court St.

The Town of Smithers is holding a Public Hearing about a proposed bylaw amendment that would rezone an empty lot at the corner of Seventh Ave and Court St, behind the Fire Hall. The zoning would change from Public Amenity (P-1) to Low Density Residential (R-2).

Public Hearing
When: 7:30 PM Tuesday February 9, 2010
Where: Council Chambers of the Town of Smithers Office
What: The public will be given an opportunity to present verbal or written submissions to Council regarding proposed OCP Amendment No. 10-01 Bylaw 1617 and Zoning Bylaw Amendment 10-02 Bylaw No. 1618.
How: Written submissions must be received by 4:30 pm on Feb 9.

Comment from the Valley Vision webmaster: The proposed zoning change does not appear to be consistent with the proposed land use designations in either Draft 1 (Civic Community) or Draft 2 (Downtown Commercial) of the yet-to-be-approved revised Official Community Plan.
